The Farewell and the Purchase

Well hello peeps! Just sitting in the lounge room of Green Tortoise Hostel in Seattle after having the most amazing dinner (oysters, crab, pork belly, terrine and prawns all for $25 - got to love the States!) and of course a few margaritas at Toulouse Petit after our long flight today - yuck! This is how we rolled....

We have some good news - we have bought our RV (a Jayco 23ft) which we get to pick up on Wednesday - very exciting. Will be sure to post some pics soon.

Just a shout out to thank those that came and helped us with the farewell on Saturday - was such a fabbo afternoon. Have included some pics below:

Well folks we are extremely jet lagged and a little bit pissed so we are off to bed but will report in soon with pics of the new van and what we have been up to in our first week.

Love to all,

Jaz & Grant

Miss you already...

We plan to start packing up our apartment this weekend which is a little bitter sweet. Of course we are beyond excitement but it feels a little weird knowing than complete strangers will be moving into our home. Although - am very thankful we have the place rented and it gives us freedom! I thought I would share a few pics of what we are leaving behind.

And going from that to something like this. Is this sensible??

Enjoy your weekend (knowing that we are doing the dreaded pack!)

The (rough) itinerary

After a small (that is an exaggeration!)amount of researching, we have come up with the following itinerary. We don’twant to be too strict but do need some guide on which direction we will be going, how many km's it will take and the places we can’t miss.

So here it is...

We are starting in Seattle and going clockwise from there until we end up back at Portland, Oregon mid December. As you can see we are mostly focusing on the West Coast and the Rockies with a flight from Colorado to New York (just dont think I can drive that far!). We think this will allow us to chill in a few paces if we like them and wont mean we are driving every day which I am sure would become pretty boring after the first four weeks.

Highlights will be Olympic National Park, Vancouver Island, Okanagan Wine Region, Banff, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Jasper, Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder, New York, Santa Fe, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Las Vegas, Joshua Tree National Park, Los Angeles, Big Sur Coast, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Redwood National Park and Portland.

I know, I know a lot of National Parks but there are some great towns in between which will ensure we dont go too feral. Are also packing the snowboards because I think we will be popping into the odd ski slope.

So there is the plan - but plans are only plans - god knows where we will visit.

Less than four weeks now - can't come soon enough - although am trying to live in the moment and enjoy this part of the adventure (that was for you mum).

Bon Voyage Tom and Sandy...

We have our friends from Sweden (well he is a Pom... what can I say?) staying with us at the moment because they have moved out of their place in Manly and are counting the days before they leave on their own adventure (on route to home) through Asia.

We all feel very lucky that we are able to embark on these adventures - so we celebrated today by drinking red (Margaret River Shiraz of course), researching through travel books and playing with our new camera. Here are a few happy snaps.

The new Fuji X10 - so nice to have a proper camera!

Sandy attacking the Lonely Planet - Grant just being scary really.

Campground researching I believe.

Me hot spring researching. A nice thought in this silly chilly weather!

Wine glass depleted only momentarily.

Have a safe trip guys and am very jealous you will be enjoying that hot sun in Bali in a few days!
